Hotspot Shield excellent but their live-chat is clueless and their server is everyday overloaded, yeah overloaded, everyday in same hour to the point where speed drops to like 5-20mbits and latency mooning to 200ms. VPN Unlimited feels more safe, they seem to be more straightforward but their speed seems to be really bad. I've used HMA, their phone app is garbage but their PC app is good, i reach good speeds but it's very plain and simple and i honestly dont feel that safe to use their VPN to "protect myself and my privacy".
So let me ask you this, does that make you feel good? Their Privacy Policy states they do not have logging, but they also say they will co-operate with Swiss law if they ask them to do so and that they do not allow illegal activities else suspension to come.įirst of, ProtonVPN is sketchy with too much "Privacy" wording and pushing to your face "Swiss laws" "based in swiss" that means nothing. ProtonVPN is sketchy, why? Because first off, when i opened their PC app and hit Secure-Core, i got a prompt message saying that Secure-core is good if their VPN servers are compromised or if government of that server location compromises/controls and installs/does malicious trackings to it's users then that secure-core would prevent this better way. It's overpriced, ProtonVPN is overpriced guys, and no, there is nothing like "Oh surfshark is like walmart version of a VPN while ProtonVPN is backed by Protonmail with huge reputation and privacy oriented". Now i wanna make this clear, is it worth your money to subscribe to ProtonVPN? (120€/2 year or 30 months): NO. ProtonVPN only has like 10% more effective results in terms of ad-blocking. ProtonVPN and Surfshark features adblock/tracker block feature, they both works exactly same! What i noticed is, ProtonVPN server is almost same as Surfshark! In fact, Surfshark had tiny bit better ms than ProtonVPN with several locations/servers. Just to be clear, this test was primarily made in a 5G network with speeds of around 380-400mbits with latency of around 24-30ms. Ok move on, the VPN or the product itself works SOLID! I gotta admit that, their Secure Core servers (aka multi-hop) are FAST! Latency-wise they all bad, but man, their secure-core servers are fast! (compared to Surfshark, it was garbage, 20-30mbits). When i went to edit payment details, what do i see? A bill button asking me if i wanna renew for 294€ or so haha. So, I have several VPN's actually such as Surfshark, HMA, VPN Unlimited, Hotspot Shield and so i wanted make my switch to a VPN that is more "Premium".ģ0 months (supposed to be lifetime deal every 30 months) costed me 119.76€)
